A trip to emergency


Not really the reaction you want after an immunization.

  8. She had two shots that day - one in each arm. They think the reaction is from the measles/mumps/rubella shot since it was a booster, and she had a bit of a reaction at her 12 month shots. They did not treat it. Basically they ruled out an allergy since this didn't even start until a day or so after the shot, not right away. And they ruled out cellulitis (skin infection) because the rash was not presenting in a way consistent with an infection. So no antibiotics necessary. They think it was an immune response. So I'm just watching to make sure it doesn't get worse. It hasn't... But its still red and swollen today.

  11. Ok so we got confirmation that it was the diptheria/tetnus/polio vaccination that she is scheduled to get when she is 5. Her reaction is being reported to the board of health (or whatever it is called) to check to see if it was just a bad batch (my Dr. said Rhian was the second child to have a bad reaction to that lot number!). Yikes.
