Settling In

Well I'm on to week 3 at my new job and settling in pretty well.  Its soooo very different from my last few law jobs.  A friend asked me what it was that was making me not immediately fall into it.  And I started to say that the people were weird.  And then I stopped.  Its not that they are weird.

Its that they are all (or at least  - all seem to be) so ... normal.  Very ... mainstream.  And in my last jobs the legal minds that be were pretty much all left-of-centre politico's who all had all foregone big salaries and prestigious jobs to do legal aid work and never charge a client.

I loved that about the work - even in its most stressful moments.

I'm now in a different world and working on adjusting.  Its ok.  And everyone is "nice".  But they just aren't like me.  I'm searching for someone to be my friend there.  Not sure he/she exists though.  At least not openly.

Oh and some cuteness for your day here is Rhian in the park the other day.  She'll be 19 months next week - how did that happen?

  1. OMG, she's so big! And cute!! For what it's worth, I started a new job 3 months ago and felt like you do at week 3. It took some time but I did make friends at work. I'm sure you will too. :)

  4. I have to say that most of the friends I've made at work--never would have guessed it from when I first started working with them.

  6. Actually "LIsa" you totally meant to be rude. And that is really not OK. If you disagree - don't read the blog. You selfish brat.

  7. Well, I couldn't agree more with the whole thing;) Tho perhaps I agree just a whit more strongly that she is the queen of cuteness (and many other lovely things, too!). AW

  8. 19 months? She's a toddler? I remember reading about her homecoming as a newborn! She looks so happy--what a great girl (with a great mom!)
