Not a Political Blog ... but

In a direct way, I'm pretty sure I don't want this blog to become a political mommy blog.  But it is indirectly anyway, since I'm putting my "Choice Mom" lifestyle out there for all to see, and to advocate for policies that support my choice and my family.

And I'm feeling deeply saddened today since Jack Layton passed away this morning.

Canada not only lost a truly great politician, we lost a great Canadian.  His life was dedicated to changing the political landscape of Canada - something he managed to do this past election when he became leader of the opposition.  No small feat in a country that has had the same two parties in power since practically forever.

I didn't always agree with his politics (although in theory I mostly did - and volunteered in some federal campaigns) but I admired his dedication, commitment, intelligence and his love of our country.  Mr. Layton, you will be missed.

My friends, love is better than anger.
   Hope is better than fear.
Optimism is better than despair.
So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic.
And we’ll change the world.

All my very best,
Jack Layton

  2. I was so hoping he would beat cancer, and it was sad to hear the news yesterday. Although I didn't always agree with his politics, I liked the fact that he was a voice for people who didn't have one.
